A New Virtual Machine

In order to create a new virtual machine, you need to go to the instances page. There you will find a blue "create VM" button in the header. Click on it and you will be redirected to a page with a form. Next, you need to fill in the following fields and you can also watch our short video on how to do it:

  • Name. The name can be any value. Just make sure that the names are unique for each VM!

  • Location. By default, your location will be Norway. If you have any questions, please let us know.

  • Flavor. Here you can choose one version from the available computer resources (GPUs, vCPUs, RAM, Storage). More information can be found here.

  • Image (operating system). In this section, you can choose the system that suits you best. By default, we offer ubuntu, debian and various versions of them (vanilla or with additional settings CUDA, AMD, NVIDIA drivers,...). If you have questions and need more information, let us know.

  • Network. You need to select a network from the list. Or create a new one if you need to. The network will have the same cluster as the virtual machine.

  • Authentication. In order to access the machine, you need to add an Ssh key to it, you can choose one from your list. Or add a new one. You can only have 6 keys for one machine.

  • IP Addresses. This section contains two types of IP addresses. IPv6 your machine will get it automatically. And you have the option to add an IPv4 address if you need it. This is not mandatory.

And lastly, just check in the "Summary" section that everything you have selected is correct and click "Start Virtual Machine"

You will also be able to go to the Instances page and see the newly created machine there, so you can start working with the machine in full, just wait for the active status. You will need to reload the page to see the changes.
